Colossians Chapter 2
Study Two:  Lesson Three (2.2.3) -- "Whom do you trust?"

Lesson Three
"Whom do you trust?"

Whom do you trust....?  A family member? A friend? Your boss?  Your company? Your bank account? Your government?

Is it conceivable to you that any one of these entities can let you down?  Whether intentional or not?  Whether malicious or not?

We can all think of instances where we have been let down by people or organizations we 'trust.'

Are you trusting in 'someone' or 'something' now instead of God. Are you trusting 'man' or God to provide and meet your needs?  Granted we all need other people, however recognize it is our trust and faith in the Lord that brings the 'needed' people into our lives!  God sends them!

Trust only in HIM!

Repeat this:  Today, I put my hope and trust in God!

Verse 6 "So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live in him,"

Assignment:  Review the following Bible verses on Trusting in God.  Write them down and post them where you can see them daily.

  • Psalms 37:3,5,7;
  • Psalms 55:22;
  • Psalms 62:8;

What are some of these deceptive philosophies:
  • “Man is the center of the universe and controls all things;”
  • “We can accomplish anything we want through sheer determination and will;”
  • “He who has the most toys wins;”
  • “We should always look out for number one;”
  • “We are God;”
This chapter continues the exploration of what the world teaches us, compared to what we find in God’s word.

Verse 6So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live in him,
Verse 7rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.
Verse 8See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the basic principles of this world rather than on Christ.
