Colossians Chapter 1
Study Three:  Lesson Two -- "Thy Will Be Done"
Verse 1 Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God, and Timothy our brother,
Verse 2 To the holy and faithful brothers in Christ at Colosse: Grace and peace to you from God our Father.
Verse 3 We always thank God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, when we pray for you,
Verse 4 because we have heard of your faith in Christ Jesus and
of the love you have for all the saints--
Verse 5 the faith and love that spring from the hope that is stored up for you in heaven and that you have already heard  about in the word of truth, the gospel
Verse 6 that has come to you. All over the world this gospel is bearing fruit and growing, just as it has been doing among you since the day you heard it and understood God's grace in all its truth.
Verse 7 You learned it from Epaphras, our dear fellow servant, who is a faithful minister of Christ on our behalf,
Verse 8 and who also told us of your love in the Spirit.

Verse 9  "For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you and asking God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all spiritual wisdom and understanding."

Lesson Two: "Thy Will Be Done"

Normally, we only see the first part of this famous prayer, read more......

"God grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference.

Living one day at a time;
Enjoying one moment at a time;
Accepting hardships as the pathway to peace;
Taking, as He did, this sinful world
as it is, not as I would have it;
Trusting that He will make all things right
if I surrender to His Will;
That I may be reasonably happy in this life
and supremely happy with Him
Forever in the next.
Amen."

Study Three:  “Knowledge of His Will?”
Colossians 1:9

All Christians, if they are honest, will admit to struggling with discerning God’s will from our own. This is why we pray:  “thy will be done…” Let's explore how to grow in spiritual wisdom, and lean more on God and not ourselves. This chapter takes on many of the self-help principles so prevalent in today’s world.
